The former Faculty of Education was established in 1989 E.C. (1996) with the establishment of the then Dilla College of Teacher Education and Health Sciences (DCTEHS). The departments of Biology and Sport Sciences were completely different departments belonging to the then Faculty of Education. With the transformation of DCTEHS to Dilla University (DU) and subsequent expansion and reorganisations of programs during the implementation of BPR, the School of Life and Sport Sciences has emerged through bringing the Departments of Biology and Sport Sciences together.
Hence, currently, there are two programs under the School of Sport and Life Sciences – Biology and Sport Sciences. The School was established in 2001 E.C (2008) to train students in Biology and Sport Sciences at undergraduate level.
Mission of the School is to prepare knowledgeable, skilled, and internationally well competent Biology and Sport Science graduates.
