School of Continuing Education

 Introduction

The school of continuing education was established in July 1998 given the status of a program. It was in 2010 that the school of continuing education was given full recognition as a school with the responsibility of coordinating weekend and summer (kiremt) programs.

The summer program which was launched in July 1998 is special package program designed by the MOE to up grade teachers with diploma to degree level. The weekend program started in Oct. 1998 with the aim of providing community service to society who did not get the chance to join high education in the regular program.

The program started with 8 fields of studies in the summer and 3 in the weekend in education. Currently it runs 23 fields of studies in Education, Health, Agriculture, Business and Economics, Social Sciences and Engineering with 6635 summer and 1847 Weekend Students. The weekend program is run in three centers, namely Dilla, Hawassa and Shashamene. Below is the list of summer and weekend programs.
