An
Overview
The
Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Humanities (FASSH) was established
at the onset of the Ethiopian millennium in 2007. In
line with the institutional objectives of its home University, the
major objectives of the Faculty are set in the areas of training,
research, and community and consultancy services.
- With regard to training, the Faculty aims at producing qualified
professionals in the areas of journalism and communication, law, sociology,
and anthropology who will satisfy the needs and demands of the nation
in the aforementioned disciplines.
- The Faculty also aims at initiating and conducting research activities
that are relevant to the needs of the nation and that will help alleviate
societal problems.
- The other major objective of the Faculty is to provide community services
to the surrounding peoples in order to improve the quality of their
life, and offer consultancy services to various organizations that are
interested to upgrade their performances and services.
Activities: As a newly established faculty, the FASSH
is currently involved in staffing and in acquiring the necessary materials
and facilities that are essential for producing quality professionals
within its domain.
Future Plan: The FASSH envisions to expand its training
programs by increasing its enrollment capacity in the existing area
of studies while at the same time seeks to open new programs of studies
such as folklore, among other.
It
is also the Faculty’s ultimate objective to develop the existing
departments to the level of faculty and schools so that they will
finally start to function independently.
