Dilla University counseling office executes a lot of activities among which the following are worth mentioned:
A)Academic support for students on several topics such as study skills, time management, note making, note taking, exam preparation and execution, influencing teachers positively, career life planning and development including program selection, referral and linkage etc
B) Psychosocial support for the students, and any needy university community on a range of issues like stress management, crises counseling (i.e., bereavement counseling and other trauma-focused interventions), resisting peer pressure, assertion skills, HIV/AIDS and RH counseling, psychotherapy for mental and behavior disorders, conflict resolution, community-university liaison(i.e., giving volunteer community service on the issues of family, children, youth etc) , student-parent linking and solving problems, gender and culture sensitive counseling, referral and linkage service etc
c) Carrying out trainings on varied topics for different group of individuals like on gender-based violence, stress management, assertion skills, life skills, sexual risky behaviors, and so on.
D)Undertaking research schemes on topics that concern psychological knowledge in collaboration with University staff members as well as stockholders in the community
E) Networking with other offices within the university and/or outside the domain of the university; for example, Dilla University HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Office, Gender Office, Student Deans’ Office, across the schools, Dilla town Children’s’ and Women’s’ Affair, Dilla town Sport and Youth Office etc


To achieve the major objectives of the office the following strategies are being employed: individual counseling, group counseling, orientation and sensitization, individual and group guidance, trainings, peer counseling, telephone counseling, advocacy through print and electronic media etc ; and therefore, it is welcome one who seeks help or to work together.
